Boise Art Museum: 670 Julia Davis Dr. As a cultural anchor in Boise for over 70 years, the museum features many exhibitions annually that reflect a variety of artists, media and styles. Open Tuesday through Saturday, 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.; Sunday, noon to 5:00 p.m. Closed Mondays and Holidays.

Idaho State Capitol Building: Capitol Boulevard and Jefferson Street. Inside Idaho’s newly renovated statehouse, constructed between 1905 and 1912, are executive offices, legislative chambers and displays of Idaho’s history and major industries. Tours offered Monday through Friday, 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., Capitol hours are Monday through Friday, 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.; Saturday, Sunday and Holidays, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Old Idaho Penitentiary: 2445 Old Penitentiary Road. Built by prisoners in 1870, this fascinating site offers an informative prison tour with cells, the gallows, and rose gardens. Open September through May, noon to 5:00 p.m.; Summer, 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

World Center for the Birds of Prey: 5666 West Flying Hawk Road. Tours offer insight into the actual working process of saving endangered species of hawks, falcons, eagles, and tropical birds of prey. Open November through February, 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.; Summer, open daily 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Zoo Boise: 355 Julia Davis Drive. Zoo Boise is home to more than 200 animals from 83 various species. Feed giraffes, go walkabout with the wallabies and experience encounters with otters, Bengal tigers, zebras and more!
